Oscar winning Director Bill Condon has emerged as a front runner to end the Twilight series with a big bang, directing ”The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,” which will be filmed in two parts.
At least three top directors are in the running for the Summit Entertainment blockbuster, including Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola and Fernando Meirelles. But deadlinehollywood is among buy Minipress online the outlets reporting that Condon as the likely choice.
“I’m told. Summit Entertainment hasn’t signed him, but I’m told that after several strong meetings, they are negotiating,” Deadline reporter Mike Fleming wrote on the influential blog this morning (Apr 8).
Summit has changed directors for each segment of the Twilight series. Catherine Hardwicke helmed the initial film, “Twilight,” which launched the Twi phenomenon about star-crossed lovers Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen.
The Twilight pictures, which include “New Moon” and “Eclipse,” slated for a June release, have since become a major franchise.
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” directed by Chris Weitz, grossed $707 million worldwide, even though it wasn’t widely well-received by critics.
The amount is almost twice the $385 million worldwide gross of the Hardwicke-directed movie.

Academy Award nominee Stephen Daldry could be the next person to direct Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner in the Twilight Saga series.

Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the uber-successful Twilight series, confirmed this morning that it has replaced Eclipse editor Art Jones with Nancy Richardson, the editor of Catherine Hardwicke’s original Twilight film. The studio is not placing blame on Jones, who previously worked with Eclipse director David Slade on his horror film 30 Days of Night as well as Slade’s Ellen Page-starrer Hard Candy.
